When choosing a rope, it is essential to find the right balance between thickness and weight. Thicker ropes withstand more falls, but they are also heavier. Experienced climbers often prefer thin, lightweight ropes, while beginners opt for thicker ropes that offer greater security. On new routes with a higher risk of falling, a thicker rope is more appropriate. On long, multi-pitch routes, a compromise between thickness and weight should be found, taking into account the climber's experience.
For pole climbing, it is recommended to use specific indoor ropes. Choosing the right rope will extend its lifespan. The red REEP rope is available in 100m lengths.
