Men's Arc'teryx hooded fiber jacket redesigned for cold weather protection. Synthetic insulated midlayer.
This versatile hooded jacket has kept climbers, hikers, backcountry skiers, and urban commuters warm. Worn alone or as a midlayer, it performs in a variety of conditions and intensity levels.
The Atom Hoody is lightweight, warm, breathable, and features a new tailored fit to allow for mobility in any mountain sport, making it highly recommended for activities that involve a lot of arm movement such as climbing, ice climbing, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing, or other primarily aerobic situations. It can be used as a mid-layer in extremely cold conditions, but it's also a great single layer for use during intense activity or to keep us warm when winter conditions require it. Comparatively, its insulation is comparable to that of a medium fleece but with a significantly lower weight and much higher packability.
Perfect for use as an insulating layer since its Coreloft™ Compact 60 fiber provides the right warmth and necessary breathability. Coreloft™ is a uniform material (it is not woven with warp and weft threads) made up of a mixture of multidenier siliconized polyester fibers of various sizes, both in length and thickness; the shorter fibers are those that allow excellent thermal comfort by trapping air in them and the continuous fibers give consistency to the whole and allow a good recovery of the garment after being subjected to compression. In fact, Coreloft™ has been subjected to a process to compact it by 50% without reducing its thermal capabilities in the same proportion; in the case of the Atom Hoody W, the amount of filling is 60 grams per square meter of fiber. Being a hydrophobic material, it continues to warm even when wet, making it an excellent material to use in humid conditions such as fog, storms or in case of excessive sweating if we have to increase our pace at a given time.
The outer fabric Tyono™ 20 consists of a material made of 100% elastic Nylon Ripstop of only 20 deniers, so we are looking at a fabric that is as resistant and durable as it is light. It has been given a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish that provides water repellency. It also features side panels made from stretch fleece, a material composed primarily of polyester (94%) but with a good proportion of elastane (6%) to increase mobility and breathability. The result is a highly adaptable fabric that breathes and disperses moisture with a very pleasant feel.
The pre-shaped sleeves to adapt to the movement of the arms with a soft mesh interior and the side panels of lightweight fleece make this jacket a very comfortable garment. The bottom of the jacket is laminated and can be adjusted with two elastic pulls and the back hem is slightly longer to allow the body to bend without leaving the lumbar area exposed.
The StormHood™ is water-repellent and has thermal insulation to protect us from unexpected rain during the activity or to add extra warmth when the conditions require it. This hood is also pre-shaped for use with a helmet and is quick-adjustable with an elastic drawstring.
